About VelDean

I am an experienced personal coach, both professionally and as a volunteer. I feel that part of what makes me successful in a coaching relationship is my unique ability to build rapport, listen keenly for understanding, and help draw out solutions from within my coaching clients. I don't dictate or offer cookie cutter solutions, but work with my clients to help them discover the answers for themselves.

I have experiences the many types of transitions of which I speak. I am a survivor of a difficult divorce and I had to create a new life plan as a single parent. Although I have never been widowed, I am intimately aware of the life transition that follow the loss of a beloved spouse. Having raised 4 daughters, I have walked the path of transition that follows becoming an empty nester. I have experienced career changes, both of my own choice and following being downsized in challenging economies. I have experienced retirement and had to look that major transition in the face, working to discover my purpose and passion for the contributions I now make during this transitional time of life that so many are experiencing.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and minors in both communications and psychology. Years later, during my divorce, I worked as a paralegal for my divorce attorney and received my certification as a paralegal. In later years of my life, I earned a Master of Science degree in marketing. I have also found great satisfaction in continually pursuing self-education and training in a variety of fields. Indeed, one of my personal passions is continually learning, especially in the face of transitions in my own life and supporting the transitions of others.
